A few of us on the product management team were recently tasked with overhauling the pricing model at Fortanix. As anyone who’s worked on pricing knows, data is your best friend. You need a lot of it, data to help model outcomes for existing customers, new prospects, renewals, finance teams, customer success, and more.
Making life easier for the CPO (Chief Product Officer) and CRO (Chief Revenue Officer)
You need to understand use cases, how they were sold and priced, what discounts were applied, the impact of different geographies, custom pricing, professional services, and so on.
Sounds manageable, right? That is, if all your data is neatly structured and easy to query.
But here’s the reality: most of this data lives in comments, unstructured fields, and is scattered across tools. It’s messy, inconsistent, and fragmented. Mining meaningful insights from thousands of quotes, deals, contracts, and CRM notes is not just time-consuming, it’s painful and error prone.
That got us thinking…
What if AI could help?
We started exploring the idea of using AI to answer a wide range of questions by tapping into data across systems like Hubspot, Vitally, Salesforce, and more. The dream: ask a question in plain English and get a clear, reliable answer—regardless of where the data lived.
But then reality hit again.
This data is highly sensitive. No enterprise in their right mind would want to feed all this into generic AI services, especially those that rely on public large language models (LLMs). The risks around data confidentiality, compliance, and security are too great.
So… what if a product existed that solved all of this?
Imagine a product you could deploy entirely within your own infrastructure—whether on-prem or in your cloud—that could:
- Keep all your confidential data within your control
- Let you choose and manage the LLM running inside your environment
- Respect existing RBAC and access policies across data sources
- Be simple and intuitive enough that even a CPO or CRO could use it without training (wink wink!)
- Offer out-of-the-box connectors to easily ingest data—no code required
- Be cost-effective and enterprise-friendly
As a product manager, I dream a lot. (Probably more than I should.) But a product like this? It would’ve saved us hours—maybe weeks—of manual work. It would’ve reduced errors. It would’ve made our pricing model overhaul faster, smarter, and way less frustrating.
We’re dreaming… but not for long.
Stay tuned.
